In an exciting development for smartphone enthusiasts, MediaTek has officially launched its innovative Dimensity 8400 chipset, marking a significant milestone as the first chip in its segment. This new powerhouse is set to drive performance in the highly anticipated Redmi Turbo 4 and Realme Neo 7 SE, both of which are scheduled for release in January 2025, specifically aimed at the Chinese market. Moreover, the Poco X7 Pro, expected to enter the global scene, will also feature this cutting-edge chipset, appearing as a rebranded variant of the Turbo 4.
A recent listing from Geekbench has provided insights into the Turbo 4’s performance capabilities, shedding light on the actual numbers associated with the Dimensity 8400. The Redmi Turbo 4 scored an impressive 1642 points in single-core tests and an even more remarkable 6056 points in multi-core tests, surpassing its predecessor, the Redmi K70e, which was previously introduced as the world’s first smartphone featuring the Dimensity 8300 chip. Despite the commendable multi-core results, the single-core performance of the D8400 appears to fall short compared to other high-performance chips.
The Dimensity 8400 is poised to compete directly with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chipset, which boasts single-core scores reaching approximately 1800 and multi-core scores near 4800. Notably, the performance of the Dimensity 8400 positions itself strategically between the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 regarding multi-core efficiency.
Additionally, the Geekbench listing reveals that the Redmi Turbo 4 will come equipped with a generous 16 GB of RAM and will operate on Android 15, enriched with the latest HyperOS 2.0 overlay.
In terms of other specifications, the anticipated Redmi Turbo 4 features a striking 6.67-inch OLED display with a crisp 1.5K resolution and a fluid 120Hz refresh rate, ensuring a visually stunning user experience. Under the hood, potential buyers can expect configurations of up to 16 GB RAM and 512 GB of internal storage, complemented by substantial battery options of either 6,000mAh or a slightly larger 6,550mAh, paired with rapid 90W charging capabilities.
Photography enthusiasts will also be thrilled to learn that the device is rumored to sport a 20-megapixel front camera, alongside a robust dual-camera system on the rear, which includes a 50-megapixel main sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and an additional 8-megapixel lens for enhanced versatility.
Beyond these exciting specs, the Redmi Turbo 4 is expected to include several desirable features, such as an in-screen fingerprint scanner for added convenience, an IR blaster, and dual speakers to enhance the multimedia experience.
