Elon Musk amplified this announcement by revealing that Grok’s new functionality can even decode humor, explaining the meaning behind jokes when provided with relevant images. While this feature is still in the early stages of its rollout, Musk anticipates rapid improvements, assuring users that performance would see significant enhancements in the near future.
The update follows a previous release of the Grok-2 model in August, which introduced image generation capabilities derived from the FLUX.1 model developed by Black Forest Labs. Similar to its predecessors, Grok-2 was aimed at both developers and premium subscribers of the X platform. At that time, xAI had hinted at further developments, particularly emphasizing an upcoming integration of multimodal understanding into Grok and its associated developer APIs.
