In an exciting development for watch enthusiasts and dog lovers alike, Casio is preparing to launch a unique collection of G-Shock watches inspired by the beloved Shiba Inu breed in the U.S. market this November. Following a successful debut in Japan last September, this limited edition series pays homage to the Shiba Inu, known for its loyalty and charming appearance.
The Shiba Inu G-Shock collection consists of three distinct models, each capturing the essence of a specific color variation of the breed. First among them is the Aka-Shiba model, which reflects the warm sesame color of the brown Shiba Inu. This timepiece showcases a soft brown and off-white hue and features a small Shiba Inu icon on its inset dial. It boasts an analog-digital display packed with functionality, including a 1/1000-second stopwatch, world time settings across 29 time zones, five daily alarms, and a full auto-calendar. With dimensions of 55 × 51.2 × 16.9 mm and a weight of 70 grams, this robust watch will be available for approximately $140.
The second model, inspired by the sleek black Kuro-Shiba, presents a minimalist design with a striking black exterior complemented by an off-white underside. This digital-only variant features a clean Shiba silhouette on the dial along with essential functionalities like a 1/100-second stopwatch, a countdown timer, flash alerts, and an electroluminescent backlight with afterglow. Weighing just 53 grams, with dimensions of 48.9 × 42.8 × 13.4 mm, it retails for around $130, making it an appealing option for those seeking style and functionality in a lightweight frame.
Rounding out the collection is the model inspired by the white Shiro-Shiba, which stands out with its innovative backlight feature that reveals a Shiba Inu face when activated. This watch also includes a digital display featuring Triple Graph functionality, along with a 1/100-second stopwatch and a countdown timer. Measuring 53.2 × 50 × 18.7 mm and weighing 67 grams, it combines durability with visual appeal, priced approximately at $130.
Each model in this collection meets G-Shock’s renowned durability standards, ensuring both shock resistance and water resistance up to 200 meters. Additionally, with a battery life of about two years, these watches are designed for active lifestyles. The mineral glass face on each watch adds an extra layer of scratch protection, making them perfectly suited for everyday wear and tear.
With the November release fast approaching, G-Central has reported on the buzz surrounding these timepieces, and Casio’s global website has begun listing the Shiba Inu watches, indicating an impending broader rollout. This collection not only captures the playful spirit of the Shiba Inu breed but also promises to deliver the high-performance quality that G-Shock is known for.
