On October 16, 2023, Honor is set to launch its much-anticipated X60 series of smartphones in China, consisting of two distinct models: the Honor X60 and the X60 Pro. Recent leaks have provided insights into the specifications of the standard X60 model, which is anticipated to utilize the Dimensity 7025 chipset. However, fresh revelations courtesy of the well-known tipster Panda is Bald on Weibo have shed light on the key features of the Pro edition, albeit with the notable omission of camera specifics.
The Honor X60 Pro is expected to feature a striking 6.78-inch curved-edge AMOLED display with an impressive resolution of 2700 x 1224 pixels. Although the leak does not explicitly mention it, the device is likely to support up to a 120Hz refresh rate, enhancing the smoothness of scrolling and overall gaming experience for users.
Powering the Honor X60 Pro will be the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset, a reliable component that previously supported the Honor X50 last year. Honor has announced that the X60 Pro will come in various configurations, including options of 8 GB RAM paired with either 128 GB or 256 GB of internal storage, as well as a higher-spec version featuring 12 GB RAM with either 256 GB or a generous 512 GB of storage space. Notably, only the 512 GB variant will support the innovative China Mobile Beiduo satellite SMS service, marking its importance for connectivity.
One of the highlights of the Honor X60 Pro is its substantial battery capacity of 6,600mAh, which represents an increase of 800mAh compared to its predecessor, the X50. This substantial battery size ensures prolonged usage, and it is complemented by 66W fast charging capabilities, allowing users to recharge rapidly. Impressively, despite the larger battery, the X60 Pro maintains a sleek profile measuring just 7.98mm in thickness, with overall dimensions of 162.8 x 75.5mm and a weight of 188 grams, making it convenient for daily use.
While pricing details remain under wraps, the Honor X60 Pro will be offered in an appealing palette of four colors: black, Basalt Gray, Burning Orange, and Sky Blue, alongside the Elegant Black option.
In a strategic shift in product positioning, Honor has reportedly made notable adjustments for the X60 series. The previous X50 and X50 Pro models were powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 respectively, but the new lineup sees the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 equipped X60 model taking over the X50. Conversely, the X60 Pro, featuring the Dimensity 7025 chipset, will be positioned slightly lower in performance tier, indicating a distinct strategy in Honor’s market approach. Additionally, there is speculation surrounding the release of the Honor X60 GT, anticipated to succeed the X50 Pro and X50 GT models from the previous year, further expanding Honor’s robust smartphone portfolio.
